Stade Brestois are facing fierce competition to sign KV Saint-Trond’s revelation Mathias Delorge (19) but they are moving in the right direction to sign the Belgium U21 international, reports L’Équipe.
With the broadcasting rights question now being resolved, Brest can get started on their summer transfer window. Until now, Les Ty Zéfs’ only signing has been Julien Le Cardinal, who was already loaned from RC Lens last season. The Brittany outfit now have growing confidence in sealing a deal for 19-year-old Mathias Delorge from KV Saint-Trond. The defensive midfielder had an outstanding season, playing 40 games in the Belgium top flight, logging a goal and four assists.
With a contract running into 2025, Mathias Delorge is set to leave his formative club this summer. The talented defensive midfielder is gathering a lot of interest, with Belgian outfit KAA Gent, Serie A’s Venezia, and Brest having all submitted offers between €3M and €3.5M to KV Saint-Trond. L’Équipe reports that the French outfit is in a good position to beat competition, with Champions League football being a major factor in convincing the Belgium U21 international. With the season about to kick off in less than a month, the Brittany side is looking to finally be active on the transfer market.
