L’Équipe are reporting that Stade Brestois are considering a move to sign Olympique de Marseille defender Jordan Amavi (29) on loan.

Amavi is out of favour at Marseille. He hasn’t featured in the club’s plans for some time, evidenced by last season’s loan move to Getafe. He only made five appearances during his stay in Spain. The arrival of Marcelino as manager this summer has not changed matters, and the signing of Ronan Lodi from Atletico Madrid further relegates the former OGC Nice full-back down the pecking order.

Having joined Marseille from Aston Villa for €10m back in 2018, Amavi now looks set for another loan spell. Brest showed an interest in the Frenchman back in January, and they now look set to reignite that interest. Brest would like to take Amavi, whose Marseille contract expires in 2025, on a season-long loan, according to L’Équipe. Eric Roy’s side have made a good start to the season, winning their opening two matches of the Ligue 1 campaign.
