Wissa Draws Summer Scramble as Brentford Stand Firm on £50m Valuation

Brentford forward attracting Premier League and European interest

Yoane Wissa is not the type of player who usually commands headlines in the transfer rumour mill, but the Brentford forward now finds himself at the centre of serious interest from both Premier League rivals and heavyweight clubs in Europe. Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Arsenal, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have all been credited with strong admiration for the 28-year-old, according to TeamTalk.

Brentford’s valuation is firm. £50 million is the figure being quoted, and while that might seem inflated for a player with 12 league goals last season, it reflects Wissa’s consistency and versatility in a system designed around mobility and work rate. The Congolese international is under contract until 2026 with the option of a further year, giving Brentford the upper hand.

Forest revisit January interest amid uncertainty

Nottingham Forest had a £22 million bid rejected in January and, with uncertainty around Taiwo Awoniyi’s future, are reportedly ready to come back in for Wissa. Forest’s attack needs variety, and Wissa offers flexibility across the front three, making him an attractive option should Chris Wood remain their only experienced central forward.

Forest’s ambition is laudable, but competing with the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal — and matching Brentford’s valuation — will be a real test of their resolve.

Turkish giants consider bids amid Premier League tension

Fenerbahce and Galatasaray remain active in their pursuit, although their proposed valuation of £25.6–£27.4 million falls well short of Brentford’s demands. Galatasaray, notably, see Wissa as an alternative to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, though the price tag could ultimately rule them out.

Brentford intent on contract renewal

Behind the scenes, Brentford are working to secure Wissa on a longer-term deal, a clear signal of intent in the face of mounting suitors. With 49 goals for the club since 2021 and a strong 2024–25 campaign behind him, Brentford believe he remains central to their evolution.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

The growing list of suitors for Wissa is both flattering and frustrating for Brentford supporters. There is pride in seeing one of their players linked with clubs like Arsenal and Spurs, but that’s quickly tempered by the reality that money often talks, especially during the summer window.

Wissa has been integral not just for his goals but for the energy and aggression he brings to the press, the link-up play in the final third, and the relentless commitment he shows in every game. Losing him would be more than just a dent to Brentford’s attacking numbers — it would shake the very rhythm of their system.

The £50 million price tag is entirely justified given the current market and Wissa’s importance to Brentford’s structure. However, it’s worrying that clubs with deeper pockets might come in late with bids that test the club’s resistance. Renewing his contract now feels essential, not only to protect his value but to reassure fans that the project is still moving forward and not being slowly dismantled one key player at a time.

If he does leave, the club must ensure that the reinvestment is immediate and effective. Because in Wissa, Brentford have a player who’s not easily replaced.
