Brentford launch heritage shirt based on 1905/06 kit | OneFootball

Brentford has launched a new heritage shirt based on the club’s kit from the 1905/06 season.

The strip was created in collaboration with Bees United, the club's official supporters’ trust.

The club first made the move to its former home stadium of Griffin Park in 1904.

At this time and throughout the 1905/06 season, players wore blue and yellow, colours which were inspired by the Rothchild’s family.

Lord Rothschild was a club patron in the early 1900s and encouraged a change in shirt colours in 1903 to blue and gold.

The west Londoners starred in these colours in Southern Football League Division One, with the red and white stripes that we know today not being introduced until the 1925/26 season.

Now, a replica of the 1905/06 kit is available to purchase online and in the Bees Superstore.

The heritage shirt has yellow stripes against blue and features a white collar and a club crest that was in use from the 1893/94 season. It is available in sizes small through to extra-large and costs £40.

Bees United's Don Tanswell, who helped with the collaboration, said: “It’s really great to have brought back to life the third of our original shirts from 1905.

"This latest one, probably from our first real sponsor, the Rothschild’s, was a long partnership of over 15 years and the blue and yellow colours of course led, after a few white years, to the beginning of our red and white stripes in 1925.”
