Brentford hit four past Man Utd in stunning victory

Scorers: Da Silva 10′, Jensen 18′, Mee 30′, Mbeumo 34′.

Manchester United remain winless in the Premier League after they were hit for four by Brentford.

Erik ten Hag has lost his first two games as United boss and his team got off tot he worst possible start when Jay Dasilva’s low drive from 25 yards out squirmed through the arms of David De Gea.

That was the first of four goals in 34 minutes as the hosts produced a remarkable first-half display.

De Gea then provided Lisandro Martínez with a poor pass at the edge of the box which allowed Mathias Jensen to win the ball from the United summer signing before slotting into the bottom corner.

It was three on the half-hour mark when Ivan Toney flicked a corner on to the back post for Ben Mee to nod home.

Bryan Mbuemo got in on the act four minutes later after a rapid Brentford counter-attack. Toney played the ball into the path of his strike partner, who steadied himself inside the penalty area before sliding the ball past De Gea.

Jesus bags brace as Arsenal win Emirates thriller

Scorers: Jesus 23′, 35′, Xhaka 55′, Martinelli 75′; Saliba (OG) 53′, Maddison 73′.

Gabriel Jesus scored twice on his home debut for Arsenal as the Gunners put Leicester to the sword in a topsy-turvy game at the Emirates.

The Brazilian gave his new side the lead 23 minutes in, somehow finding room in a crowded penalty area to curl into the top corner.

He then got on to the end of Gabriel Martinelli’s corner to head home at the back post to complete his brace.

Leicester found a way back into the game out of nothing when William Saliba headed James Justin’s flick-on past his own goalkeeper, but Granit Xhaka tapped in to an empty net to restore the two-goal cushion immediately after Danny Ward had spilled the ball into Jesus’ path.

James Maddison squeezed the ball through the legs of Aaron Ramsdale from a tight angle to set up what looked to have been a nervy ending for Mikel Arteta’s side.

However, Martinelli put the game beyond all doubt moments later with a low drive from the edge of the box to make it two wins out of two for Arsenal.

No goal for Haaland but City coast past Bournemouth

Scorers: Gündogan 19′, De Bruyne 31′, Foden 38′, Lerma (OG) 79′.

Manchester City made light work of newly-promoted Bournemouth as they kept up their perfect start to the season.

lkay Gündoğan broke the deadlock after 19 minutes, running on to Erling Haaland’s flick-on to slide the ball past Mark Travers.

Kevin De Bruyne extended City’s lead with a stunning outside-of-the-boot shot from just inside the penalty area.

De Bruyne then played in Phil Foden to place past Travers as City ran riot at the end of the first half.

João Cancelo then saw his low cross turned into his own net by Jefferson Lerma to round off the day for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Youthful Saints produce stunning second-half comeback

Scorers: Aribo 72′, Walker-Peters 81′; Rodrigo 47, 60.

Southampton came from two goals behind to salvage their first point of the season in a stunning second-half fightback.

Rodrigo Moreno had scored a brace to produce clear daylight for Leeds, turning home Jack Harrison’s cross at the back post for his first before providing a thumping header to make it two.

But Joe Aribo came off the bench to slot past Illan Meslier before Kyle Walker-Peters powered a strike home after being played through on goal by Sekou Mara to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat for the Saints.

Mitrović misses penalty as Wolves and Fulham draw

José Sa saved Alexandar Mitrović’s second-half penalty as Wolves and Fulham played out a goalless draw at Molineux.

Wolves should have opened the scoring five minutes into the second half when Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross made its way to Morgan Gibbs-White at the back post but he blazed over from four yards out.

But it was the visitors who were left cursing their luck when they were rewarded a spot-kick after Ait-Nouri had brought down Bobby Decordova-Reid in the box but Sá was equal to Mitrović’s effort to make sure both sides walked away with a point.

Pope unbeatable as Newcastle hold the Seagulls

Nick Pope was in inspired form as Newcastle held Brighton and Hove Albion to a draw at the Amex.

Brighton came close to opening the scoring in the 35th minute when Solly March’s half-volley was heading towards the back of the net before being cleared off the line.

But it was Newcastle’s new goalkeeper Pope who kept his sheet clean, producing five saves to keep the hosts at bay.

Both sides move on unbeaten with four points from the opening two games.

Aston Villa off the mark against toothless Toffees

Scorers: Ings 31′, Buendía 85′; Digne OG 87′

Aston Villa bounced back from last week’s opening day defeat to Bournemouth with a victory over Everton in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Goals from Danny Ings and Emi Buendía secured the points for the Villans, despite a late rally from the visitors, who remain winless after two games.

Anthony Gordon thought he’d given Everton the lead when he scrambled home from a corner in the 24th minute, but the linesman’s flag quickly went up for offside.

It was Villa who did break the deadlock in the 31st minute, when Ings turned well in the box before firing left-footed past Jordan Pickford into the corner.

Everton were then dealt a blow when Abdoulaye Doucouré had to go off injured, with Tom Davies on to replace him.

Villa were then also forced into a change just before the hour mark, with Philippe Coutinho limping off to be replaced by Emi Buendía.

And it was Buendía who then made it 2-0 to the hosts, when he tapped home following some nice interplay with Ollie Watkins.

The visitors quickly handed a lifeline, however, when new signing Amadou Onana’s surging run and cross ended with ex-Everton player Lucas Digne scoring an own goal for 2-1.

The Toffees then went close to an equaliser when Martínez spilled Gordon’s effort into the path of Salomon Rondón, but the striker couldn’t get a clean connection and the goalkeeper was able to gather.

And deep into stoppage time Gordon also went close when he forced the Villa goalkeeper into a smart stop, but 2-1 was how it finished.
