The 22-year-old is expected to feature in a B-team game
Aaron Hickey has returned to full Brentford training.
The Scotland international has missed 16 months of action with a severe hamstring injury he suffered back in October 2023.
But Standard Sport understands the 22-year-old is now back training with the first team in a major boost to manager Thomas Frank.
Fellow full-back Rico Henry is close to returning to full training following a 10-day recovery period from a hamstring injury.
Brentford are reluctant to throw Hickey back in at the deep end, with his return to match action to be staggered. He is expected to feature in a B-team game and then be named on the bench for the first team before making his first start for the Bees since injury.
The full-back, who can play on either flank, had spent most of January doing individual running work at the club’s training ground but has now rejoined the group.
He first underwent surgery for the hamstring injury shortly after sustaining it in October 2023, but suffered a setback in August 2024 that saw him undertake surgery for a second time.
Brentford, who visit West Ham on Saturday, originally feared he would miss all of the current season when the second surgery to produce a new tendon repair did not entirely cure his pain, but Hickey is now finally on the mend.
Last month, the Glaswegian signed a new contract running until 2028, with Brentford retaining the option to extend it by a further year.
Meanwhile, Henry is close to being reintegrated with the squad in training, having undergone a 10-day recovery period after picking up a minor hamstring injury.
The left-back suffered the injury last month shortly after returning to make his first appearances since succumbing to the second ACL injury of his career, which he suffered back in September 2023.
