Brentford have completed the club-record acquisition of Burkina Faso winger Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth.

The 23-year-old joins the Bees on a five-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months in a deal worth up to £42.5 million including add-ons.

Ouattara’s arrival is largely to fill the void about to be left by Yoane Wissa’s impending departure, with Newcastle United now expected to finalise a move for the DR Congo international.

Known for his pace, energy levels and industry, Ouattara is expected to bring much-needed dynamism to Brentford’s attacking options.

His ability to operate on either wing or even as a false nine fits offers a variety of options to Keith Andrews.

“I am very happy to be here,” Ouattara said in his first interview as a Brentford player.

“It is a good day today for me and my family and my agent. I want to do my best for the club and for everyone.

“I want to keep pushing to play well and have a good season.”

Ouattara netted nine goals and provided four assists in 37 games across all competitions last season, helping Bournemouth secure a ninth-place finish.

Ouattara is expected to be in attendance to watch his new teammates when they open their Premier League campaign with a clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.

He will be poised to make his debut against Aston Villa on August 23, after which an EFL Cup clash against former employers Bournemouth lies in wait.
