Brendan Rodgers believes Emilio Izaguirre “got away with one” after being stretchered off during Celtic ‘s victory over Hibs on Wednesday.
The reigning champions beat the Edinburgh outfit 2-0 to stay six points clear at the top of the SPL but the night was almost ruined after the Honduran defender was taken off in the second half.
It looked like a suspected knee injury, which would have potentially ruled the defender out for the rest of the season.
But Rodgers has insisted that Izaguirre has insisted that the injury could have been a lot worse.
“It was a clumsy challenge on Izaguirre. The medical team tell me they think he’s got away with it, little bit sore but should be fine in a few days.”
Deadline day signing Jeremy Toljan started for the first time at right-back and assisted the opening goal in an impressive showing.
And Rodgers reckons there’s much more to come from the on-loan Borussia Dortmund star.
“He’s a really good player. You can see his talent. Great assist for the first goal, good energy and very composed.
“I thought he was excellent and he’s only going to get better once his fitness improves.”
