Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he wants Adam Idah back at the club permanently this summer.

Following victory in the Scottish Cup final, the former Leicester City manager told The Daily Record that he wanted to keep Idah at Celtic Park.

Having joined the club on loan from Norwich City in January, the Irish international striker has impressed and has been a key part to success for Rodgers and his side.

Irishman Idah has scored some important goals during his loan spell with Celtic, and his latest landed him a second winners medal for this season, having already won the title with Celtic earlier this month.

Rodgers, while speaking to The Daily Record, was full of praise for Idah at full-time at Hampden Park, and was also quizzed on how realistic a permanent transfer would be over the summer.

"Hopefully very real. For me he was the catalyst of our season because we needed a different dimension up front," Rodgers said.

"The big guy comes in, he has so much potential and played in some really important games.

"What I love about Adam is he is a big game player. He loves the big games and occasions.

"At 23 with the potential and quality he has I think he can really push on in his career.

"Hopefully we can do something. He has a long-term contract at Norwich but he is definitely one I would love to bring back here."

What is Adam Idah's future at Carrow Road

The young Irishman was sent on loan to Celtic with the idea of gaining some form back and some more regular gametime too, having been moved out the first-team by Josh Sargent.

There would have potentially been an eye to integrate him back into the starting XI if things went well, but now Norwich have got to ponder whether to cash in on the serious interest from Celtic, or be selfish and keep a now much happier and much more threatening striker.

If Norwich, once they appoint a successor to David Wagner, want to experience greater success than this season, then keeping Idah around would not be a stupid idea.

As stated above, the striker is much happier now having got the gametime he would have been hoping for at this point in his career, as well as the welcomed return of goals.

He only recently signed a long term deal too, so he, and Norwich, arguably have a view to wanting to make things work at Carrow Road in the long term.

However, the lure of Celtic may prove too strong for both the Canaries, and Idah himself.

The Hoops will be able to offer Idah European football for the first time in his career, and with that, they will also have the money to stump up no matter what Norwich's asking price may be.

So it will very much be up to what a new manager at Norwich can offer Idah in terms of guarantees and plans for next season, versus the trust and love he already knows exists with Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic faithful.
