Celtic will be without defensive duo Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor for their trip away to Ross County. Carter-Vickers has a toe injury whilst Taylor has picked up a calf issue, ruling him out of the game in Dingwall.
Speaking at Friday’s media conference, Rodgers admitted that the pair would be unavailable for Sunday’s trip to the Highlands. “Cam’s still not available and Greg Taylor will miss the game, he has a slight problem in his calf so he’ll miss out.
“We’re hoping Cam will be ready for after the international break, and Greg probably won’t be too far after that.
“He (CCV) is working and putting his weight on it, and it’s easing off. It was just time with him and we’re hoping he’ll be nearly there after the break”
“Ali’s fine, he’d come off with a stiff back, but he trained this morning, so he’s okay.”
Alex Valle replaced GT3 at halftime in Germany and it was clear that Taylor was moving gingerly. The Spaniard will look to consolidate his place in the team after catching the eye in the win over St Johnstone.
Taylor will likely be forced to withdraw from Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming break. Taylor’s defensive colleague Alistair Johnston appears to be fit for the game on Sunday but Canada boss Jesse Marsch revealed that he hasn’t been selected due to his recovery from an injury. The stiffness in his back will likely be managed during the break, meaning he’ll be ready to continue for Celtic when domestic duties resume.
