Young German striker Justin Njinmah - the subject of a full page interview spread in today's print edition of "Sport Bild" - will be given the remaining two league fixture of the calendar off in the hopes that his ankle will full heal in time for the resumption of league play. This was confirmed by Bremen sporting head Peter Niemeyer this evening.
"We've agreed to give him some rest," Niemeyer - as quoted by Tim Lüddecke of Germany's Kicker Magazine - said, "He's been playing with pain in his ankle for quite some time."
Since returning from an injury setback regrettably suffered after a very strong start to the season, the 24-year-old has started four of Werder's last six league fixtures. Ole Werner's Hanseaten - already without attacker Keke Topp - with either opt to return to a 3-4-3 with Marco Grüll on the right or potentially give resurgent Scottish striker Oliver Burke a chance alongside Marvin Ducksch in Werner's recent 3-3-2-2.
