The Brazilian FA (CBF) have released official images of the kits to be used at this summer’s World Cup.
Exciting, right?
The kits look, well, exactly like Brazil kits.
Friday’s game against Russia will see Brazil wear their new blue kit for the first time, while the iconic home shirt will be debuted next week against current world champions Germany.
“We compared all shades of yellow to the exact colour used at 1970 World Cup, said Pete Hoppins, senior director of apparel design at Nike.
“That was the first World Cup to be broadcast on colour TV. That was one of the most important events in football history and we brought that same energy to the 2018 Brazilian national team collection.”
A mosaic design adorns the blue away shirt, which nods back to 1958 – the World Cup-winning year in which Brazil first adopted the colour for their second kit.
Just like that World Cup in Sweden, the numbers on the blue shirt will be yellow.
Honestly, there’s not much you can do to alter such iconic kits.
Brazil will always wear yellow with green trim, blue shorts, and white socks. That’s just how it is and how it should be. It’s iconic.
Naturally, that isn’t enough to satisfy some and internet reactions are varying from ‘it’s stunning’ to ‘it’s lazy and boring’.
