Although there were no changes in the FC Barcelona squad in the last winter transfer window, the Blaugranes were still able to receive a significant amount of money as their former midfielder Nico Gonzalez finalized his move to Manchester City.

It has been several days since the winter transfer window closed for the Catalans, but they can still see one of their on-loan players change clubs in the coming few days, as SPORT reports that the Brazilian side Palmeiras is looking to incorporate the striker Vitor Roque before the transfer window closes in Brazil on 28th February.

Roque is currently on loan at Real Betis, but his fortunes at the Andalusian club have declined considerably in recent weeks. He is no longer a key player for Manuel Pellegrini, especially after the rise in prominence of Cédric Bakambu. Additionally, Cucho Hernández’s arrival in the winter window could further diminish his role in the squad.

Keeping the loan agreement with Real Betis in view, this should be a three-way operation. However, the report claims that Palmeiras are looking for a direct bilateral negotiation with Barcelona, and will not entertain any financial demands for the player from the Verdiblancos.

The Brazilian giants believe the savings in the salary for the last four months of Roque’s remaining loan should be enough compensation for the Andalusians.

If Barcelona are willing to get rid of Roque, they will be looking to ensure they do so without taking any losses on the player. Palmeiras want him in their squad as they plan to overhaul their team for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, but the Brazilian forward might cost around €30 million that the Blaugranes paid to Athletico Paranaense when they signed him in 2023.

Despite the involvement of such a large number of stakeholders, negotiations are expected to remain cordial. The good relationship between Deco, Leila Pereira (the President of Palmeiras), and Andre Cury (Roque’s agent) can help these involved parties arrive at an agreement, and negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming few weeks.
