Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar was simply on another level over the first half of the club season, which came as no surprise to OGC Nice center-back Dante.

Neymar was quite a keen contributor to the Ligue 1 powerhouse through the opening months of the ongoing campaign, logging 26 total goal contributions in all competitions. A season after which he failed to score a single goal in the UEFA Champions League competition, the Brazilian forward managed to record two goals in Champions League group stage play this season.

Speaking to Ligue 1’s official website, Dante was asked about Neymar’s sheer dominance over the opening half of the club season, to which he explained why it did not come as a shock to him to see the PSG forward simply have his way for the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

“He’s someone who has goals in mind and who manages the pressure of events well,” Dante said. “I’m not surprised because six months from the World Cup, he said to himself that he had to put in a lot of effort and have a lighter head and fewer injuries.

“Since the start of the season, we’ve seen that he’s no longer focusing solely on himself, but more on his team. You can tell he’s happy, and that’s why he was in such great shape. When he’s happy, he has no problems.”

Neymar is currently with the Brazil national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as he is set to feature in its upcoming quarterfinal matchup against Croatia.
