Carlo Ancelotti’s future has become a hot topic of speculation after back-to-back defeats for Real Madrid against Valencia and Arsenal.
While a knee-jerk reaction is not expected, failure to win any major trophy would potentially lead to the Italian’s axing at the end of the season.
Keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Ancelotti are Brazil, who continue to admire him and want him to be the next manager, having recently gotten rid of Dorival Junior.
Now, according to El Periodico (h/t SPORT), Brazil will wait for Carlo Ancelotti until the end of the current season, specifically until after the Champions League final on 31 May, before making any decisions on their next national team coach.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has communicated with Ancelotti’s son, Davide, to understand the coach’s intentions – a discreet but strategic move as the Selecao look to rebuild following a 4-1 defeat to Argentina in the World Cup qualifiers last month.

Regardless of whether Real Madrid reach the final, this is the same date that Ancelotti and club president Florentino Perez have earmarked for reviewing the season.
If Los Blancos fail to win the Champions League, it is widely assumed that Ancelotti will not remain in charge.
Late in March, Ancelotti was directly asked if he had been approached by the CBF and if there had been any talks, which the Italian fully denied.
His response caught many by surprise – particularly Brazilian journalists, who had sources claiming otherwise.
Despite his public denial, Ancelotti did not lie. No direct approach was made to him – instead, the CBF reached out to his son Davide to explore the coach’s availability.
Tensions have grown between the coach and the dressing room, with the club’s performances criticised despite being alive in all three competitions. An exit remains very much a possibility and as such, Brazil are willing to wait.
