Brazil star Marta pointed to her boots after scoring a record 16th Women’s World Cup goal on Thursday.
The 33-year-old netted the opener in Brazil’s 3-2 defeat to Australia.
As she celebrated, she pointed to her boots, sporting a gender equality symbol.
Her boot deal expired last year and the star of women’s football has since refused to reach a new agreement, stressing that sponsors weren’t offering what they would offer male athletes.
Instead of reaching an agreement, she has opted to sport a symbol for gender equality on her boots during the World Cup.
Marta’s goal on Thursday made her the first player to ever score at five different World Cups.
