Athletico Paranaense and Brazil goalkeeper Bento doesn’t hide that he’s “happy to hear about” transfer links to Inter Milan.

The 24-year-old spoke to Brazilian outlet Trétis, via FCInterNews. He also made sure to stress that the moment the links to Inter are only “speculation.”

Reports indicate that Inter see Bento as a priority target in goal.

The Nerazzurri see the Brazilian international as the perfect player to take over from Yann Sommer in the coming season.

These rumours indicate that Inter’s plan is to sign Bento this summer. The 24-year-old would not become the starter right away, necessarily.

That duty would still fall to Sommer, who has shown no signs of slowing down this season and should be capable of remaining the Number One for another season or two.

However, there is no avoiding the fact that Sommer turns 36 next season.

The Swiss former Bayern Munich and Borssia Monchengladbach veteran is hardly a player for the years to come.

That is where Bento would come in. The Brazilian could initially be the understudy to Sommer – but with a view to succeeding him in the long term.

Reports indicate that Paranaense want a minimum of €20 million if they’re to sell Bento.

That would be partly in recognition of the fact that the 24-year-old is now a full Brazilian international.

Bento started in a recent friendly against England for the Selecao.

But Inter are reportedly happy to meet this valuation. Reports suggest that they see Bento as a real priority target.

As far as these transfer links go, Bento said that “I’m happy to hear about my name being linked to Inter.”

“But at the moment, nothing is done. It’s just speculation.”

The 24-year-old continued that “I’m focused on Athletic.”

“On giving my best, because this is the club where I’ve made my name.”

“I hope to continue to do my best, and to be able to learn as much as possible before I go on to even greater things,” Bento added.

“And if I happen to leave,” the 24-year-old dropped a hint, “I’m sure that Linck [the current backup at Paranaense] will do a great job.”
