Brazil have named Fernando Diniz as their interim head coach until 2024.
The CBF confirmed the new overnight which sees the Fluminense boss take charge of the national team for the next 12 months.
Diniz will take charge of the Selecao for next year’s Copa America before handing over to Carlo Ancelotti.
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues said: “There are many good coaches in Brazil, and Diniz is one of them. I noticed his innovative approach when he worked at Audax.
“Later, he went through other clubs maintaining the same game philosophy, without constantly changing it. It has always followed the same method and I really liked its renewal and its tactical applications.
“So, he is a coach whose game proposal is quite similar to that of the coach who will take over from after the Copa America, Ancelotti. They have almost the same kind of approach to the game.”
Diniz has managed a variety of clubs in his homeland including Sao Paulo, Santos and Vasco da Gama.
