AC Milan are among the top 10 most sustainable football clubs in Europe according to the Brand Finance Football Sustainability Perceptions Index 2023.

As BrandDirectory reveal, Milan have made the top 10 most sustainable clubs in Europe according to this year’s index. The survey was carried out among fans in the main countries of the world in the first half of 2022 with three parameters considered: environment, social and governance (ESG).

Together with Udinese (ESG score 78.8/100), Milan are also in the European top 10 (8th, ESG score 73.3/100) and are the only two Serie A clubs that have made the cut.

The other things that the study found is that Liverpool are perceived to be the most sustainable football brand in Europe’s ‘top five’ leagues while Real Betis and Real Madrid both secured positions in top three.

The Premier League is the most sustainable league in the ranking, while SC Freiburg leads the Environment Category of fan research and there has been a general trend towards sustainability becoming a top priority for sponsors
