Bradford City's strong start to the summer window will have to be balanced out by the exits of some personnel.

All in all, Graham Alexander has welcomed eight new faces to Valley Parade following the club's dramatic promotion to League One. It's a leap that, unlike in other leagues, hasn't been too bad for those going up to the third tier in recent times. Only one of the four promoted sides has been relegated back down to League Two in the previous two seasons.

Bradford did part with do away with some key cogs over the summer break, like Richie Smallwood and Jamie Walker, but, for the most part, their squad has remained intact. They have a 29-man squad as things stand, and, therefore, may look to move some players, whose minutes could be restricted, on to other clubs.

Bradford urged to take transfer action on former international

Clarke Oduor would be one of the main candidates that Football League World's Bantams fan pundit, Boris Thomson, would like to see potentially sent on loan. The 26-year-old former Kenya international only made 19 appearances last season, of which only seven were as a part of the starting XI.

"I think one player who could do with the loan move is Clarke Oduor," said Thomson. "I personally think he's a very good footballer. However, as a wide midfielder, he doesn't work in our system of playing five at the back that goes to a three when we're going forward, because he isn't good enough defensively because he's a winger.

"He's an out-and-out winger, really, or a sort of attacking midfielder. Playing him at wing back would not suit his style of play. And I think this style of play really been working for us.

"It's a solid bank of five when we're defending and Clarke Oduor cannot do that role. He's a very good footballer and would operate really well in a different system and has had moments for us where he's looked really, really good, and a really promising talent, but I think it would be the right time for him to go out on loan.

"I'm sure he could develop in a way where he gets more game time and a system that suits him and come back to us and potentially take over a sort of spot in attacking midfield. He just needs to develop in a different system to what we play."

Reality may hit soon for Clarke Oduor and his Bradford future

Promotions often come at the cost of those on the periphery. Those who weren't necessarily deemed good enough to play major roles in the club's old division have even less of a chance of thriving after a step up in level.

There are some cases where this trend is booked and people prove themselves to be more valuable against better competition. For someone like Oduor, with the system that Alexander uses and the competition for positions that he'd likely feature in, there isn't a tonne of hope.

The attacker has just less than a year left on his Bradford deal. A return to League Two on a permanent basis could certainly be manufactured for the 26-year-old.
