Jurgen Klopp reveals what Kaide Gordon said to him after senior debut against Norwich

In the post-match presentation after their Carabao Cup tie against Norwich (h/t Liverpool Echo), Jurgen Klopp shared his feelings on the youngsters’ performances and revealed what Kaide Gordon said to him after the match.

Klopp has become accustomed to playing a younger and relatively unknown side when it comes to the domestic competitions in England. He did the same in the Carabao Cup match versus Norwich as he handed out senior debuts to the youngsters.

Kaide Gordon, Conor Bradley, and Tyler Morton all made their debut in the cup tie. Klopp was suitably impressed with the young debutants as he showered some praise on them in the interview:

“The kids did exceptionally well, I have to say. All three physically really strong and that’s maybe the biggest surprise that they could go 94, 95 minutes. I’m really happy for them.”

The younger crop of players made a great difference in the match as Caoimhin Kelleher saved a penalty to ensure the clean sheet for the Reds. Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi are some of the fringe players who have struggled for regular game time in the last couple of seasons.

Both these players managed to get on the scoresheet as Liverpool recorded a 3-0 victory over the Canaries. Kostas Tsimikas also played an important part in the game while Joe Gomez was handed the captain’s armband for the first time since he arrived at Anfield.

The Boss went on to praise the collective effort of the team including the teenagers. He also mentioned Kaide Gordon’s words after full time

“The first thing that Kaide said to me after the game, when I wanted to say ‘congratulations’, he said ‘thank you! But there was nothing to be thankful about, he deserved it. It’s all fine, these boys are good, and thank God they are ours.”
