Bournemouth play their first home game of the 2025/26 season on Saturday, welcoming a Wolves side also in search of their first points.
Despite an opening-day defeat, Andoni Iraola’s side will be full of confidence after a courageous performance against champions Liverpool. They will see this fixture as the perfect opportunity to get their campaign truly underway.
Andoni Iraola will have taken huge positives from his side’s narrow 4-2 defeat at Anfield. Consequently, he is expected to name a largely unchanged side to face Wolves.
The performance was spearheaded by forward Antoine Semenyo, who showed immense character to score two superb goals, and he will be the key attacking threat again.
The Cherries’ resilience was particularly impressive given the summer overhaul of their defence. Iraola is likely to stick with the new-look back four of Adam Smith, Bafodé Diakité, Marcos Senesi, and Adrien Truffert to help them build cohesion.
Ahead of them, the industrious midfield pairing of Tyler Adams and Alex Scott will be crucial. With no new injury concerns reported, Philip Billing and Hamed Traoré will provide strong options from the bench.
The hosts have secured the signings of Ben Gannon Doak, a highly-rated 19-year-old from Liverpool, and 25-year-old Morocco international Amine Adli from Bayer Leverkusen. Both players have signed five-year contracts and could be in contention to make their debuts against Wolves.
Bournemouth predicted XI: Petrović; Smith, Diakité, Senesi, Truffert; Adams, Tavernier; Brooks, Scott, Semenyo; Evanilson.
The Premier League fixture takes place at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm BST.
Due to the 3pm blackout rule in the UK, this match will not be broadcast live. Highlights will be shown on BBC’s Match of the Day, with radio commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live.
