AFC Bournemouth have agreed to sign Lyon midfielder Romain Faivre (24) in a €16m deal, according to reports from Le Parisien and L’Équipe. However, Faivre won’t join the Cherries next season as he will be loaned out to FC Lorient. AFC Bournemouth owner William “Bill” Foley II also possesses a minority stake in the Brittany outfit. Faivre was already loaned out to Les Merlus from parent club Olympique Lyonnais for the last six months of the past Ligue 1 campaign.

The former Stade Brestois player quickly shone with Lorient, logging five goals and three assists in 17 games played. Considering Lyon paid €15m for the former U21 France international, Les Gones can be very happy to sell him for a similar transfer fee given Faivre’s underwhelming stint with the Rhône outfit. The attacking midfielder only registered three goals and one assist in 28 games played for Lyon. As far as Bournemouth are concerned, they will need to wait the 2024-2025 season to take a gander at the attacking midfielder’s obvious talent.
