Bournemouth have reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea for £25 million, according to The Athletic.
The Serbian has already been granted permission to undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract.
Bournemouth have been searching for a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was on loan last season but has since moved permanently to Arsenal.
Petrovic joined Chelsea from New England Revolution in 2023 and made 31 appearances in his debut season, stepping in as first-choice goalkeeper after an injury to Robert Sanchez.
However, the arrival of Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca brought a change in fortune.
He viewed Petrovic as less adept with the ball at his feet, a crucial trait for his tactical approach, and reinstated Sanchez as first choice.
Petrovic spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Strasbourg, where he impressed enough to be named the club’s Player of the Season, helping them to a seventh-place Ligue 1 finish.
Despite his success in France, Chelsea have made it clear that Petrovic remains surplus to their long-term plans by not including him in their Club World Cup squad.
The goalkeeper has expressed a strong desire for regular football, something that Chelsea cannot guarantee.
This mutual understanding has led to a gentleman’s agreement allowing Petrovic to seek a transfer for a fee in the region of £25m.
The 25-year-old was courted by several Premier League clubs, including Sunderland and Bournemouth, and the latter have won the race for his signature.
