Speaking to Bayern Munich’s official club magazine ’51’, summer arrival Bouna Sarr has likened himself to Bayern legend Franck Ribéry.
“If you look at our clubs then it’s true that we’ve followed almost the identical route,” said Sarr. “He was at Metz, Marseille and Bayern, just like me. When I was a winger, he was my role model.
“I probably won’t win as many titles as he did. He was much younger when he came here but it is an incentive to me to repeat as many of his successes as possible.”
Ribery won 24 trophies during his time at Bayern Munich, playing 425 games in all competitions – scoring 124 and creating 182 goals.
Sarr arrived at the Allianz Arena for €8 million to provide competition for Benjamin Pavard but it also capable of adding squad depth further forward.
The 28-year-old has featured in three times in the Bundesliga and four times in the Champions League for Hansi Flick this season.
