Real Madrid tonight face the first away outing of the Champions League campaign at Borussia-Park (9pm CET), where they take on Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 2 of the group stage. Zinedine Zidane's players will be looking to get the better of opponents that hold fond memories for madridista followers.
Juanito's jumps of joy are the most memorable image of the iconic meeting between the two sides after he played his part in completing one of Real Madrid's most stunning European comebacks. Thirty-five years on from that match, the madridistas renew acquaintances with the German outfit and will be bidding to reproduce the performance that secured victory in El Clásico. The major news from the Madrid camp is the inclusion of the returning Eden Hazard to the 21-man squad list named by Zidane. "We'll have to be focused and battle because it'll be a tough game”, commented the coach in his pre-match press conference, in which Toni Kroos also offered his thoughts ahead of the encounter: "We're under pressure, but I have faith in us".
Current form In the Bundesliga, Borussia Mönchengladbach have two wins and draws apiece and a defeat to their name following last weekend's comeback triumph over Mainz 05. The Germans made a decent start to their Champions League campaign. They faced a tough test with an away trip to Inter Milan on Matchday 1 and very nearly emerged victorious from the San Siro, with Lukaku's 90th-minute equaliser denying them all three points in a 2-2 draw.
