Borussia Monchengladbach are ready to offer €10 million for Inter Milan target Tomas Palacios.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that resale percentage could be crucial to Inter winning the race for the 21-year-old’s signature.

In the last few days, 21-year-old Argentine defender Palacios has emerged as a major target for Inter in defense.

Reports indicate that the Nerazzurri are ready to try and get a deal done to sign Palacios in the next week or so.

The Argentine is the player who is now at the centre of Inter’s search for a young defender.

The Nerazzurri are aiming to sign a left-sided defender who can back up Alessandro Bastoni on the back of the back three.

This would allow Carlos Augusto to play exclusively at left-wingback while Tajon Buchanan is out for the first few months of the season.

Inter owners Oaktree Capital have made clear that they want to invest in a young player.

The Nerazzurri owners want to bring in a player with room for growth and potential resale value rather than just signing a stopgap solution.

According to Tuttosport, however, there is particular competition to sign Palacios from the Bundesliga.

The newspaper report that Gladbach would be ready to offer €10 million for the defender.

That would be higher than the €6 million that Inter are ready to bid.

However, making a deal for Palacios won’t be quite that simple.

The Argentine has a fairly convoluted ownership situation. He is currently on loan at Independiente Rivadivia from Talleres.

Rivadivia, however, have a purchase option on 50% of Palacios’s contract worth €2 million. That becomes active when the loan deal expires at the end of December.

Therefore, a deal for Palacios would require convincing Rivadivia to terminate the loan rather than exercising that clause.

As such, Inter are ready to offer a percentage of future resale to Rivadivia.

In this sense, they could make a more enticing offer than Gladbach, or any other clubs.

Tuttosport report that there are also clubs in the Premier League and La Liga keen on signing Palacios. However, the player’s preference would be to join Inter.
