According to Bild, Borussia Mönchengladbach want to sign Leeds United centre-back Maximilian Wöber on a permanent deal.

Last season, the Foals loaned Wöber from Leeds for the season, where he went on to impress under Gerardo Seoane.

This has seen Gladbach look to make a deal for the 26-year-old permanent, but as of yet, they have been unable to match Leeds’ demands for the defender.

However, with Manu Koné set to depart the club before the end of the transfer window, Die Fohlen will have some funds to use in order to bolster their squad.

It is understood that Seoane’s side will look to target luring in a defender as they look to reinforce their backline.

VfL Bochum’s Bernardo has long been a player of interest for the Foals this summer, but completing a deal for Wöber is the club’s main aim.

Leeds have already stated that they will not loan the 26-year-old out for another campaign, meaning that Gladbach would need to offer the Championship side a permanent deal.

Talks with Leeds are currently on hold, but should Koné leave, then it is expected that a move will be made.
