Jamie Gittens (20) has undergone surgery on a hand injury that he has struggled with for some time. Ruhr Nachrichten report that although included in England’s U21 squad for games against France and Portugal, he didn’t travel and instead underwent a minor procedure to correct the problem.

Per RN, Gittens should be fit to play against Mainz on Sunday but will have to fight for his place after losing it to Maximilian Beier. The Englishman, who has struggled for form of late, scored nine goals and created four until the winter break but a dip in form has seen the 20-year-old struggle.

Gittens has scored just two goals in 2025, both of which came in Bundesliga defeats against Bayer Leverkusen and Holstein Kiel in January. The Englishman has started just one of his last four league games for Borussia Dortmund under Niko Kovac, who has instead opted for Beier on the left-flank.

Will Jamie Gittens leave Borussia Dortmund?

As reported by RN, speculation of Gittens’ departure in the summer are growing, with those close to the England youth international considering options. As well as Bayern Munich, who – per Sky Germany – enquired about Gittens in December, a host of Premier League clubs have shown an interest: Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
