Borussia Dortmund’s Akanji, Chelsea’s Chalobah & Lazio’s Akanji The Three Candidates To Replace Ranocchia At Inter, Italian Media Report

Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji, Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, and Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi are the three defenders who Inter could sign to replace Andrea Ranocchia in the squad before the end of the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri’s search has been narrowed down to these three names, with Acerbi seen as more of a fallback option if the other two do not pan out.

Akanji remains a major target for the Nerazzurri, although given that Dortmund continue to be relatively inflexible in their demands and have no intention of allowing a loan move, he could prove beyond Inter’s reach.

Meanwhile, Chalobah would only be attainable if he is to be signed on loan, and Chelsea could ask for a paid loan deal in order to send the 23-year-old Englishman to Inter.

Acerbi remains on Inter’s radar as ever, and given that he is trusted by coach Simone Inzaghi with whom he worked fruitfully for three seasons at Lazio, a move for the 34-year-old late in the window can hardly be ruled out.
