Though Dortmund are delighted to have landed 16-year-old Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Manchester City, they are going to be very cautious as to not raise expectations too high, too quickly.

The U-16 England international is just the latest young British talent to leave for the Bundesliga and has obviously drawn comparisons to Jadon Sancho – who joined from Manchester City back in 2017.

“Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has joined us, and we are delighted to have him in our youth set-up. He will initially play with the Under-19s,” said sporting director Michael Zorc.

“Our scouting department have done a fantastic job. He is a highly talented wide player, who will get the chance to develop at his own pace in our youth teams.

“We don’t want expectations to be raised too high right from the start. He is still a year younger than Jadon was then.

“The hope is that at some point he will be promoted to the professional team.”

Bynoe-Gittens turned heads last year with the England U-16s, scoring in his debut last August against Ireland.
