The 20-year-old has played a minor role for Pep Guardiola in City’s star-studded side.

The attacking midfielder appeared in only 25 matches across various competitions, during which he spent just 850 minutes on the pitch.

Dortmund are aiming to follow their successful blueprint of developing English talents. Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham serve as prime examples.

The German club has a reputation for providing young talents with substantial game time, allowing them to flourish into established players.

Despite being contracted until 2026, Palmer could move to Germany for a reported fee of approximately €15 million.

RB Leipzig have also shown interest in securing his signature ahead of next season.

A potential transfer presents an enticing opportunity for the England under-21 international to gain regular playing time.

Palmer’s attacking prowess and versatility make him an ideal fit for Dortmund’s style of play.

He could be the man to replace Giovanni Reyna, who is on the transfer list.

His lack of experience is unlikely to be an issue for Dortmund, who are happy to give opportunities to promising youngsters.

Following Bellingham’s exit to Real Madrid, they are seeking to reinforce their squad with several players including Ajax’s Edson Alvarez of Ajax.

They also need to sign full-backs, with Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda another signing in the works.
