Borussia Dortmund are holding out hope that Erling Haaland will be available for Saturday’s Bindesliga clash with Mainz.
The 21-year-old superstar has missed BVB’s last three games in all competitions due to a thigh injury, which has also forced him to sit out Norway’s games during the current international break.
Ruhr Nachrichten has reported that it is still unclear if Haaland will be at 100% before the weekend, but he may have recovered enough to play some part against Die Nullfünfer.
Certainly Dortmund boss Marco Rose did not rule out the possibility of Haaland’s involvement.
“There is an option to return against Mainz,” Rose said.
“We are all working on that and we have a top medical department that accompanies him around the clock. At the moment things are moving forward.”
For his part, Haaland has decamped to Marbella in Spain as he seeks to return to full fitness ahead of a busy period at both club and international level.
