As reported by Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund members have come together to vote against the controversial sponsorship deal with the arms company Rheinmetall.
Since those in charge at BvB signed the deal with Rheinmetall earlier in 2024, Dortmund fans have been voicing their frustration with the decision.
Protests against the sponsorship deal have been a continuous feature within Dortmund games, but now it appears as though they may begin to come to a halt.
During a general meeting involving the club’s members, a majority agreement came to the conclusion that BvB will end their contract with the arms company as soon as possible.
As well as this, the vote ensures that Die Schwarzgelben will not extend their deal with Rheinmetall.
It is understood that out of the 855 members that took part in the vote, 556 voted in favour of ending the deal, 247 voted against, and 52 members abstained.
Prior to Dortmund striking a deal with the arms company, Rheinmetall approached Borussia Mönchengladbach but they rejected a partnership on moral grounds.
Now, despite it coming later than many Dortmund fans would have hoped, the Black and Yellows will follow suit.
