Borussia Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin has demonstrated his loyalty to Real Madrid, firmly choosing Los Blancos over Barcelona when comparing the two giants.
This allegiance is rooted in his deep connection with the Madrid club, where he spent one season, winning La Liga in the process.
It is to be noted that currently, Borussia Dortmund hold the unique distinction of being the only team in this season’s Champions League to have faced both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Despite suffering defeats against both sides, Dortmund’s encounters with two of Europe’s most dominant teams have offered valuable insights into their respective strengths.
Following Dortmund’s loss to Barcelona, Sahin was asked during the post-match press conference to compare the two Spanish powerhouses.
Without hesitation, he expressed his preference for Real Madrid, citing his personal connection to the club rather than basing his opinion solely on objective criteria.

“You ask a Real Madrid fan who is better. For me Borussia Dortmund, but if I have to choose, I will always choose Real Madrid,” he said as quoted by SPORT.
The matches against both teams showcased contrasting challenges for Dortmund. Against Real Madrid, the German side managed to take a surprising 2-0 lead by half-time.
However, the second half saw a stunning turnaround led by Vinicius Jr., whose hat-trick secured a 5-2 victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
It was another memorable night at the Santiago Bernabeu, where the Whites displayed their resilience and attacking brilliance.
The match against Barcelona, on the other hand, ended in disappointment for Dortmund, with the team unable to capitalise on key moments during the game.
Despite this, Sahin’s remarks reinforced his admiration for Real Madrid, reflecting the lasting impact of his ties to the club.
For Sahin, his madridismo remains unmatched, making his preference for Real Madrid over Barcelona a personal and emotional choice.
