Dan-Axel Zagadou is set for yet another spell on the sidelines after he was injured in Borussia Dortmund’s 1-1 draw with Mainz on Saturday.
The France U-21 defender pulled up on the stroke of half time at the Westfalenstadion, forcing BVB to replace him with Manuel Akanji.
Speaking after the game, interim Dortmund manager Edin Terzić said: “It’s a muscular injury. He’s got a little something on his back thigh, so we had to react quickly.”
While there has been no official confirmation from the club, media reports in Germany claim that Zagadou has a torn muscle fiber.
He is now expected to miss crucial Bundesliga games against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Zagadou’s season has already been severely hampered by injury, having only recently returned to action from a damaged knee ligament.
