Borussia Dortmund are looking to settle the futures of central defenders Manuel Akanji and Dan-Axel Zagadou.
Along with veteran Mats Hummels, both players have contracts with BVB that expire at the end of next season.
That leaves Die Schwarzgelben with decisions to make in terms of extending their stays or selling this summer in order to avoid them leaving the club for free.
The Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper has reported that the club are inclined to keep the duo at the Westfalenstadion, but that no firm talks have taken place yet.
Akanji joined Dortmund from Basel in 2018, but the 25-year-old Switzerland international has failed to fully win over the fanbase due to his frequent errors.
There is little doubt about Zagadou’s ability. However, the Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate has proven prone to injury since moving from the French side in 2017.
He will miss the rest of this season after another yet knee injury, having made just four starts in 13 appearances during the campaign.
Despite his issues with staying fit, Dortmund are said to be open “in principle” to offering the 21-year-old a new contract.
