With all signs pointing to Jadon Sancho leaving Borussia Dortmund in favour of a Manchester United switch, the German giants have been busy attempting to line up potential replacements.
Now, Bild claims Dortmund are going after Lyon and Netherlands star forward Memphis Depay, who famously was a flop at Old Trafford.
Bild believes Depay, despite only having a single year remaining on his contract, is worth €44m and wants to leave the club after finishing seventh, thus not qualifying for European competition unless they can overcome PSG in the Coupe de la Ligue final.
Depay suffered a cruciate ligament tear in December but is expected to be available for selection after making an incredible recovery that would have likely forced him to miss this summer’s Euros.
Prior to his devastating blow, Depay was having one of his best years as a professional, bagging 14 goals and dishing out two assists in just 18 games in all competitions.
Depay will also be a huge factor as Lyon are still very much alive in the Champions League after defeating Juventus 1-0 in their first-leg tie back in February despite Depay’s absence.
