Borussia Dortmund defender 'close to sealing Arsenal move'

Sokratis Papastathopoulos is reportedly on the verge of leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer with a switch to the Premier League and Arsenal his likely destination.

According to the German newspaper, Bild, Sokratis’ agent, Konstantinos Farras, is already in close contact with the Gunners about the move.

Dortmund would want around €20m for the central defender and would only be announced or confirmed once the club has reached the Champions League.

Were he to complete the move, Sokratis would be the the latest former Dortmund player to move to north London, following in the footsteps of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Sokratis has made 41 appearances this season and scored three goals.
