Borussia Dortmund moved to within a point of the top of the Bundesliga with a comfortable 3-0 win over Schalke in the Revierderby.

Borussia Dortmund never looked in danger of slipping up at home to their fierce rivals Schalke, who remain just a point from the bottom of the table.

A clever corner routine led to Manuel Akanji turning home the opener after Raphaël Guerreiro’s shot had been saved by Fredrick Rønnow.

Erling Haaland doubled Dortmund’s lead just six minutes later with a delicious chipped finish after being played through by an intricate Jadon Sancho pass.

It is the Norwegian’s second consecutive Revierderby goal and his sixth goal of the season in all competitions.

Mats Hummels added some gloss to the scoreline with 12 minutes left with a thumping header from another Guerreiro assist.
