Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has summoned Borja Iglesias and Yeremy Pino as replacements for Pedri and Gerard Moreno for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers.
De La Fuente is preparing for his first adventure as Spain’s head coach, with La Roja set to take on Norway and Scotland in the international break.
Pedri made the final 26-man squad despite recovering from a hamstring injury. The Barcelona midfielder was expected to be available for last night’s El Clasico and later join the Spain squad.
However, the talented midfielder has suffered a relapse, which forced him out of the clash against Real Madrid last night and national team duty.
Villarreal striker Moreno came off injured in the first half against Osasuna, and his teammate Pino has been called up as his replacement.
Iglesias earned his maiden call-up during last September’s Nations League games and was also on the preliminary list for the 2022 World Cup.
The 30-year-old has been enjoying an impressive season in La Liga – netting 12 goals and three assists – his best-ever tally with Real Betis.
It has also earned him interest from fellow La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, who have identified Iglesias as one of the potential striker targets for the summer.
He has won just a single international cap, which came in the 2-1 defeat against Switzerland last September.
Here is the revised Spain squad for the Euro 2024 qualifying games against Norway and Scotland/
