Honduran international Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis (26) was set to sign for MLS side Los Angeles FC, but the move has collapsed because the player failed to find an agreement on personal terms with the California-based side, according to a report from Sud-Ouest.

The outlet adds that the Ligue 2 second-placed side and LAFC struck a deal over a €500k loan with a mandatory buy option set at €5m for the former Houston Dynamo striker. The 56-cap Honduras international joined Boavista in 2020 after his spell in Texas. He was then loaned in 2021 to Bordeaux and purchased by the Aquitaine outfit for a €6m fee last summer.

A return to the United States was on the cards for Elis, but the Honduran international has reportedly not found agreement with LAFC regarding his wages and the duration of his contract, with the player’s representatives affirming that the verbal proposal made to them by LAFC did not match what was followed up in writing with. It is a bitter blow for Bordeaux who had negotiated a considerable transfer fee for a player currently short of game time. Now, Les Girondins must find another club to sell Elis to before the winter transfer window ends on January 31st.
