Real Madrid will play one of their most important matches of the season on Wednesday night as they take on Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League knockout playoff second-leg tie.

With a spot in the Round of 16 of the competition on the line, the Merengues will be eager to finish the job after securing a 3-2 win in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium last week.

Leading up to the match, Real Madrid have received some positive news on the injury front as both David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger returned to training in recent days.

Lucas Vazquez also back

Now, according to AS, Real Madrid have recovered another injured defender, Lucas Vazquez, in time to face Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 33-year-old right-back has been dealing with a muscle injury that he sustained during the derby against Atletico Madrid earlier this month, leading to him missing the matches vs. Manchester City and Osasuna.

Vazquez did not train with the team on Sunday and Monday either, and as such, it was believed that he was practically ruled out of the second-leg tie against Manchester City.

But on the eve of the match, Carlo Ancelotti has welcomed the Galician defender back to group training.

With Vazquez now having recovered from his problem, it will be up to the manager and the coaching staff to decide whether to call him up to the squad for the game tomorrow or not risk rushing him back.

In case he does not return, Federico Valverde is expected to continue at right-back after impressing in the last two matches in the makeshift role.
