The respective boards at Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have this evening been afforded some positive news on the personnel front.

This comes by way of confirmation that Brazil have been officially eliminated from contention to feature in this summer’s Olympic games.

The Selecao marked their return to action a short time ago, going head-to-head with arch rivals Argentina in their third and final ‘Pre-Olympic Tournament’ outing.

Brazil headed into proceedings in the knowledge that they simply could not afford a defeat, in their efforts to keep pace with Argentina and Paraguay.

When all was said and done, though, the South American heavyweights were indeed put to the sword, by a solitary goal.

Luciano Gondou proved himself the hero on the night, bagging the only goal in Caracas a little over ten minutes from time.

Argentina, in the process, booked their spot at the 2024 Olympic games, whilst leaving their long-time foes to ponder what might have been.

As alluded to above, though, on a night when the inquest will now quickly get underway in Brazil, an altogether more rosy take on the Selecao’s shortcomings will be spreading in Spain.

This comes with the country’s two biggest clubs – Barcelona and Real Madrid – each set to keep hold of a burgeoning young talent who would otherwise likely have been Olympics-bound.

The players in question? Vitor Roque (Barca), and Endrick (Real).
