The new season got off to an unfortunate start for Club América attacker Roger Martínez but things are looking up!

On the opening day of the 2022 Liga MX Apertura season against Atlas, the 28-year-old winger was forced off with a knee injury after just 38 minutes.

Martínez has since missed six games for América but his road to recovery looks to be ‘progressing favorably’ according to new updates in Mexico.

The player was recently pictured training with team-mates ahead of the club’s clash with Cruz Azul on Saturday.

And according to the reports, Martínez was doing some exercises with his teammates last week as medical staff were wary of a potential relapse but could soon return to the pitch.

As the sole left-winger in América’s squad, his return would be welcomed by Fernando Ortiz and company as the ninth-placed side looks to improve their standing.
