Nottingham Forest are willing to let Lewis O’Brien leave the club this month after seeing him fail to establish himself as a regular starter at the City Ground, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old was one of the first names on the teamsheet for Huddersfield Town last season, playing an integral role in guiding the Terriers to the play-off final but losing out at Wembley to his current side.
Then going on to start the Reds’ opening five league games of this term, it looked as though he would be ever present in Steve Cooper’s starting lineup but he has found his game time limited since the end of August.

Falling behind the likes of Remo Frueler, Orel Mangala and Ryan Yates in the pecking order, with Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa also able to compete with O’Brien when available, the ex-Huddersfield man’s game time could be limited between now and the end of this term.
And with this, Forest are now reportedly willing to let him leave the City Ground, with Carlos Corberan’s West Bromwich Albion reported to have been interested in luring him away from the East Midlands on loan.
this report, they remain interested in striking a temporary agreement for him.
The Verdict:
With Taylor Garnder-Hickman potentially needed at full-back if Darnell Furlong sustains an injury, adding another midfielder to their squad wouldn’t be the worst idea for Albion.
However, it could be a bitter battle in the middle for a starting spot with Okay Yokuslu and Jayson Molumby both performing well under Corberan.
O’Brien won’t want to come to The Hawthorns to sit on the bench though and that’s why he needs to seek reassurances regarding game time if he’s to make this potential move.
The ex-Terrier could potentially play in a more advanced midfield role – but John Swift and Tom Rogic can operate there when available too and that’s why the Forest man wouldn’t be guaranteed regular starts.
You could easily see him taking the step down though considering he’s thrived under Corberan before and arguably took his game to new levels under the ex-Leeds United coach, who clearly had a good impact on his career.
The chance to compete for promotion again may also appeal to him.
