The race is well and truly on for the Champions League places.

Liverpool are already confirmed as one of the five clubs.

Whilst Arsenal are also now certainties to make the top five.

What about the other three Champions League places though?

With bookies taking stock after recent results, including Tuesday night’s match at the Etihad, which ended Manchester City 2 Aston Villa 1.

The bookies and punters reacting to how things now (morning of 23 April 2025) stand in the Premier League table (see below), as well of course, how they are now seeing the underlying strengths of the various teams and squads.

Listed below are the general Premier League odds now (morning of 23 April 2025) available from the various bookies for the 2024/25 season:

Win the Premier League:

1/100 Liverpool

250/1 Arsenal

A formality for the scousers now.

Premier League relegation:

Already relegated – Southampton

Already relegated – Leicester

1/1,000 (10/11) Ipswich

25/1 (12/1) Man City

The bottom three also a formality as well, Ipswich are only mathematically not already down, whilst Leicester were confirmed on Sunday, along with Southampton getting instant relegation after promotion.

If you are wondering about the Man City 25/1 odds of relegation, this is due to the possibility (probability?) of severe punishment from the 115 Premier League charges they face, which could include amongst other sanctions, points deduction or even relegation. Still waiting for the outcome of that case.

Liverpool now guaranteed top four

1/1,000 Arsenal

1/4 Man City

1/1 Forest

5/4 Newcastle United

5/2  Chelsea

16/1 Villa

After last night’s match, Man City now seen as long odds on 1/4 to finish top four, so they are seen as all but certainties to finish top five now and get Champions League, by the bookies and punters anyway.

The opposite for Aston Villa.

Losing in added time last night at the Etihad, has seen the bookies and punters react. Aston Villa way out to 16/1 to make the top four and therefore, also seen as now big outsiders to make top five and Champions League.

The odds suggest that the bookies now see it as three from four to make the other Champions League places along with Arsenal and Liverpool.

Forest (1/1) and Newcastle United (5/4) seen as most likely to make top four after Man City (1/4), then Chelsea (5/2).

So, Man City, Forest and Newcastle to make the top five, according to the bookies, with Chelsea to pounce if any of that trio falter badly.

It is Chelsea v Everton and Newcastle v Ipswich on Saturday (26 April), whilst Man City, Forest and Villa are playing in the FA Cup semis at the weekend.

Then all five Champions League contenders are in action the next weekend, with games spread from Thursday 1 May to Sunday 4 May (Newcastle away at Brighton on that Sunday).
