Leonardo Bonucci has retired from his playing career, but he’s still an athlete at heart and is training for the London Marathon with help from Juventus.
The 37-year-old hung up his boots this summer after experiences at Fenerbahce, Union Berlin, Juventus, Milan, Bari, Genoa, Inter, Pisa and Treviso.
He also amassed 121 senior Italy caps, in which he managed to score eight goals.
When Bonucci was spotted at the J-Medical centre in the Juventus camp this week, there were suggestions from some fans that he might be getting ready to pull the jersey back on to replace injured Gleison Bremer.
However, the Corriere dello Sport claims that the tests were to ensure he could get the medical certificate to begin training for the London Marathon in April 2025.
The former defender is also seemingly planning to get a warm-up under his belt with the half-marathon in Turin.
The London Marathon has been a mainstay since 1981 and is 26.2 miles long, approximately 42.2km.
