Charlton Athletic are back in League One action on Saturday when they travel to face Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium.

The Addicks have enjoyed an excellent start to life under Dean Holden, winning three and drawing one of his five games in charge so far, moving them up to 12th in the table, just six points from the play-off places.

Holden’s men secured their third consecutive victory with a 2-0 win over promotion-chasing Barnsley at The Valley last Saturday thanks to goals in each half from Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Tyreece Campbell.

The Posh come into the game sitting seventh in the table, just two points from the top six.

Darren Ferguson got off to the perfect start in the first game of his fourth spell in charge of the club with a 2-0 win over Port Vale at Vale Park on Monday night, with two second-half strikes from Ephron Mason-Clark sealing all three points.

Charlton will be without defender Todd Kane, who was forced off just before half time against the Tykes, but he could be boosted by the return of Steven Sessegnon, with the on-loan Fulham man now back in training.

“Todd has unfortunately got a hamstring issue so it’s going to be a number of weeks before he returns to the team,” Holden told the club’s official website.

“Steven was disappointed that he had to pull out of the game last week. He just felt something in his knee but that’s something that he’s been managing since he came to the club. He was actually on the grass again this morning (Thursday) for first time.”

Ashley Maynard-Brewer seems to have established himself as the club’s number one under Holden and he should retain his place between the sticks.

Sean Clare, Ryan Inniss and Lucas Ness will all make up part of the defence, but there are question marks over who will start at left-back with Kane sidelined and doubts over Sessegnon’s fitness. Eoghan O’Connell replaced Kane against Barnsley, but Sessegnon will come in if he is available.

Captain George Dobson will provide protection to the back four, with Jack Payne and Scott Fraser completing the midfield.

After their goals against the Tykes, Rak-Sakyi and Campbell should both retain their places on the wings.

Macauley Bonne replaced Miles Leaburn before the hour mark last weekend and could make his first start since his return to the club in this one.
