Italy took a first-half lead over Malta in their latest European qualifier thanks to an in-form Serie A star.
Fiorentina midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura has taken Italy’s top flight-by storm this season with four goals and two assists in eight games.
And his latest form earned him a call-up to the national team for the first time since 2013 – only for things to get even better.
Bonaventura picked up the ball at the top of the box and didn’t even need to look up as he looped the ball home into the top right corner.
It was his first goal for Italy and at 34, he is now the oldest ever player to score his first goal.
